August and September Work
About
Welcome to my August and September work, I will be posting current or past work from the months of Aug-Sept 2022. All posted assignments will include a description on my creative process physically and mentally.
Stamps
I made 6 stamps all with different imprints. I made every piece differently with different meanings. An "M" with ears to represent me (Mickey), a cyclops and sun to have a little fun, "YOLO" because I wanted to try writing in order to practice making things backwards and finally a heart to put on my favorite pieces. Finally I made a smiley face to have something more simple and see how perfect i could get mine compared to the other like it in the class.
Face Piece
The second piece I made was a pirate face. I used a lot of coiling to create the lips, eyelids, eye patch strap, and bandanna. This was my 3rd attempt at this piece after seeing my mistakes through my first and second piece and incorporating my new knowledge into this piece.
Mug

My third piece was a mug that I made by rolling out a large chunk of clay and proceeding to cut that thin layer of clay into a more manageable piece that could then be used for my next step. After I found a cup that fit my ideal sizing, I rolled the clay over the cup, slip and scored the two points in order to make the outer shape then added a bottom using the same process. Once the mug had time to dry a bit, I began making my handle by coiling a piece that I slip and scored to the side. Finally, I found the glaze I liked and added my layers of glaze to create my final product.
This tray was made of low fire white clay with a green glaze. I made this piece for me and Mikey when we first discovered our MnM signature idea for our pieces. The hardest part was flattening the corners so that it wouldnt wobble. If I did it again I would write out the letters in a different way so that they popped a bit more.
